MAGISTRATE’S COURT Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., Presided at the Lyttelton Magistrate’s Court yesterday. For boarding a railway train without having previously paid his fare, in that -he tendered-tab expired ticket, Leslie David Andrews, ~ aged 17. was convicted and fined £l, and ordered to pay costs 10s.
Claude Vincent Dennis, taxi-cab driver (Mr R. A. Young), pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to give way to traffic on his right. He was convicted and fined £2 and ordered to pay costs, 10s. Fines were imposed in the following traffic cases, brought by the traffic inspector to the Lyttelton Borough Council (Mr H. G. Ablett), the defendants in each case being ordered to pay costs:— carrying pillion passenger on motor-cycle under a- restricted licence, James Robert Cleghorn, £2. No driving licence, Allen Cull £1 (no warrant of fitness £1). George Neville Geary £1 (no warrant of fitness £1), John Mercer £l, Nelson Price £l. Failing to 'produce driving licence, Kelvin Newman 5s (no warrant of fitness ss), Kenneth Mattingley 10s. Driving unregistered motor-cycle, Richard Vessey Hamilton. £3. Failing to keep to left, John Johnson, £3. ’ Hetty Mabel McDonald proceeded against her husband, Finlay McDonald, for separation, maintenance, and guardianship orders. The orders were made, maintenance being fixed at £3 a week.
