PAN AMERICAN AIRWAYS
BIG CREDIT FOR NEW PROGRAMME
(Rec. 8.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept 17. Pan American Aipvays have secured a 40,000,000 dollar credit, mainly to cover the unfinanced balance of the 100,000,000 dollar equipment programme for Pacific and other world services. The “New York Sun”. says it is understood that Pan American Airways operated on a profit for the first six months of 1946, but probably encountered difficulties as a result of the grounding of Constellations in July and August. However, it expects to return to profit-making with the operation of these aeroplanes.
