INTERIM AIR FORCE WORKING HOURS

PROTEST BY MEN AT WEEDONS

Men of the Interim Air Force of the rank of corporal and below, employed at the Weedons station of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, have threatened to strike to-day in protest at being called on to work a 44-hour week. No similar action is thought likely at Wigram. where a spokesman for the men said yesterday that station routine orders so far had made no mention of Saturday morning work, the introduction of which, the men at Weedons claim, would bring the week’s working hours to a total of 44.

In spite of the threat to strike, the belief was unofficially expressed by Air Force authorities last night that there would be no stoppage of work to-day at either Weedons or Wigram.
