PAY OF SCHOOL CARETAKERS

INCREASE GRANTED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 15. “The Government has made provision for increases in the remuneration oi public school caretakers and cleaners,” said the Acting-Minister oi Education (the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer) to-day. He added that although the increases would take effect as from July 1 last, there would be some little delay in putting the scheme into operation because of the amount of administrative work involved. , . The increases were in accordance with the recommendations of the committee set up before the war to investigate conditions. The Minister also announced that a further amount would be made available for other expenses of school committees, including the cost of fuel, cleaning,-and class materials.
