BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR
NELSON PUBLICAN’S DEATH * The Press ' Special Service NELSON. September 16. The body of William S. Horrocks was found in Nelson harbour near the wharf on , Saturday afternoon. Horrocks had been for 31 years licensee of the Tasman Hotel, Port Nelson, and was president of the Nelson Licensed Victuallers’ Association Horrocks was heard leaving his bedroom between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Saturday, and when his bed was found to be unoccupied at 7 a.m. a search was instituted. He was 71.
Virtually all the heavy work on the widening of the main road at the entrance to Sumner has now been completed. the works committee reported to the Christchurch City Council last evening. Some hard stone round the toe of the cliff has still to be removed. Large rocks from this work have been placed along the beach from the surf oavilion to the Scarborough walk Failure of Christchurch cricket clubs to make their applications for grounds by the advertised closing date. August 31. has caused the reserves department of the Christchurch City Council some inconvenience.
