OFFICER FOUND NOT GUILTY

CHARGE OF MURDERING JEWISH CIVILIAN LONDON, August 20. A court-martial in Tel Aviv to-day found Lieutenant Benjamin Woodworth, of the Pioneer Corps, not guilty on a charge of having murdered a Jewish civilian.

Lieutenant Woodworth told the court how he had escaped being kidnapped with five other officers on June 18. One of-the terrorists grabbed him, looked at his badges, said that he was not senior enough, and let him go. When, the next day, he barged into a number of Jews, one of whom seemed to resemble the kidnapper, he thought he was going to be the victim of another attack, and he fired into a gap between two persons, intending to scare them.

Other findings, which are subject to confirmation, will be promulgated later.
