PALESTINE TALKS IN LONDON

LONDON, August 20. There will be no meeting of the British Cabinet this week. Mr Attlee is leaving London to-morrow for a few days’ holiday. The next development in the Palestine situation, therefore, is expected to be a conference with Jewish and Arab representatives in London. The Press Association has been informed that the Jewish Agency, as a result of consultations in London and Paris at the week-end, has been invited to send representatives to these talks. The agency asked for certain conditions before acceptance of the invitation. Cabinet has never considered the question of the surrender of the mandate. The London talks may not occur until early in September. For the eleventh time in five days the Jerusalem Post Office was vacated for an hour to-day when the police relayed a warning that “the building will be blown up shortly.”
