AMERICAN LOAN TO BRITAIN
SENATE TO DISCUSS AMENDMENT
(Rec. 9 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 7. With the voting 41 to 41 the Senate rejected a closure motion to limit the debate on the British loan. The adoption of the motion required a twothirds majority. The Senate agreed to vote tomorrow on Senator McFarland’s amendment to the British loan proposal which stipulated that the loan should be contingent upon the British giving the United States title to bases now held on a 99-year lease.
