APPEAL FOR FOOD
Sir.—ln addition to extra -rationing for Britain, could not nfiany of us surrender for India’s or Europe’s.desperate need our present usual amount or biscuits. Instead of the pound or two of biscuits we are in the habit oi ordering each week, let us pay tne worth of them to our grocer. ’ The money is then forwarded each month to the biscuit-makers, who manufacture plain nutritious biscuits, to be exg>rted to the most needy countries. iscuits are unnecessary luxuries a menace to children’s teeth, and of uttle value to anyone. This would be a small sacrifice of an unjustifiable luxury, and thousands of starving people would benefit.—Yours, etc., NiF.H.M. May 5, 1946
