DEFEAT OF FAMINE
Sir,—Regarding recent condemnation by the Prime Minister of persons discrediting the food campaign, does it apply to-persons maintaining that coupon saving cannot make up for loss of production? If it does,, please place me on the black list. Will some kindly accountant work out how many coupons would be, required io make up for the loss in butter production, astronomical figures being beyond farmers. The Prime Minister was frequently warned that certain legislation must affect production, but took no heed; and while broadcasting New Year messages for greater production, persisted in introducing legislation having the contrary effect; and, as he says, lack of food means death. Incidentally, what about releasing some more of that wheat stored in Australia? — Yours, etc., V. WILKINSON. - Mitcham, May 6, 1946. <
