POSSESSION OF FIREARMS

R. J. SCARLETT. Wefetport, May 1, 1946-

Sir,—With the advent of another shooting season, I think it opportune to draw attention again to the lamentable number of shooting accidents reported, mostly ones that heed not have occurred had proper care been exercised. It would seem that a warrant of fitness to own and use a rifle, gun, or revolver should be required of all applicants before a police permit is granted. The applicant should satisfy the registering officer that he knows and practises the correct and therefore Only safe way to handle lethal weapons when walking, cycling, motoring, or getting through fences.— Yours, etfefl H. H. NICHOLAS. May 2, 1946.
