MUSEUM AS MEMORIAL
Sir,—“J.S.R." contends that Mr Schroder’s desire to have-an up-to-date museum Ms a Centennial memorial is “utterly puerile." Yet the case for an improved museum is Strong. At present we have a ihUSeum with splendid material and a lovely entrance, which I hope will be retained. But the building is hopelessly out of date arid ill-equipped. It should be enlarged and rebuilt on the best modern lines. As things are, an able and enthusiastic staff art greatly hampered in their efforts to make the museum the cultural centre it should bs. Give Cahterbury a museum biiildihg equal to that of Wellington and the centennial will be worthily commemorated. —Yours* atd.,
