PRESENTATION TO MR A. F. BARRELL

Mr A. F. Barrell, headmaster of the Sydenham School, who will retire soon aftfer 41 years of teaching, was bidden farewell at a recent meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association of the school. Mr I. Collingwood, president of the .association, presided. Tributes to the work done by Mr Barrell were paid by Mr Collingwood, Mr F. M. Harman, chairman of the school committee, Mr S J. Irwin, a former school inspector, and Miss S. Gillespie, who was a farmer infant mistress at the school. Presentations were made to Mr Barrell on behalf of the association and the committee, and a bouquet was presented to Mrs Barrell by Mrs M. D, Rodda. Misses D. Munday and F. Boyce, former teachers at the school, were presented with bouquets, and they and Mr Barrell were elected honorary members of the association.
