PLEASANT POINT FAIR
“ The Press ** Special Service TIMARU, March 4. The Pleasant Point ewe fair to-day yras the first down country ewe fair to -do held by the South Canterbury Auctioneers’ Association. A total of 16,000 .ewes.' was yarded. AB the sheep were catalogued. and farmers were warm in their, praise of the innovation. The sale commenced with the two-tooth ewes r and values from the outset were very sound as compared with the corresponding sale last year. The young ewes, came forward in good order and the top lots especially commanded the keenest competition. The medium-sized sheep were firmer than last year’s prices by 2s a head. The ewe lambs were in the next section sold, but they were only medium sorts, only • one pen of good sheep being yarded For the most part, values favoured buyers, and one was left with the impression that buyers were wafting for the Fairlie ewe lamb fair.
