FAMINE THREAT IN INDIA
NEW ZEALAND MAY HELP
ACTION BY MR FRASER (Special Correspondent N.Z.PA.) LONDON, February 14. After discussions with Sir Ramaswami Mudaliar, leader of the Indian delegation to the United Nations, on the grave threat of widespread famine in India resulting from the failure of the monsoon, Mr Fraser has communicated to the New Zealand Government his views on the urgent nqed for all possible help being given to avert a crisis Which might involve millions of people. Speaking in the grain shortage debate in the Assembly to-day, Sir Ramaswami Mudaliar said he had received an assurance from his “gfeat-hearted friend, Mr Fraser, of that large-hearted Country, New Zealand,” of all possible assistance in meeting the crisis.
