(Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 14. Housewives from Centres throughout Britain, who crowded into the Livingstone Hall, at Westminster, to air food grievances under the auspices of the British Housewives’ League,- carried a resolution calling for a woman to be appointed as joint Food Minister, and the immediate co-dption of Women on every local food Committee, A petition to the Minister of Food (Sir Ben Smith) was also prepared. “We women are profoundly disquieted at the level to which our food has been lowered,” said the petition, “We are forced to surrender our meat, ration to our husbands and childfen. We see no reason why we should be denied dried eggs for films.” In several hours of lively discussions the questions ranged from the absence of bananas in London to the food served in hotels and luxury restaurants. The mention .oi the word “kipEers” brought cries, “We never see ippers!” When the deputation left for the House of Commons to see Sir Ben Smith there were cries of “Don’t be too lenient with him!” ’•The deputation later conferred with the Minister of Food and handed over its resolution. *
