BOWLS

♦ COAST CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, February 14. The remaining three rounds of section play in the pairs championship in the West Coast annual bowling tournament were concluded to-day, post-sectional play in both the fours and pairs championships will begin tc-morrow morning. No fewer than seven greens were utilised during the last two days for pairs matches, which easily constituted a record. Play to-morrow and on Saturday, when the finals will be played, will be confined to the green's at Greymouth—Greymouth and Karoro—which are in excellent order in spite of almost a week’s play.

A notable feature about the seven section winners. in the pairs championship who emerged after to-day’s play is that six of them corpprise representatives of the four principal Grey district clubs, only one visiting pair, that skipped by H. Blackler (Lyttelton), qualifying. Along with L. G. Mercer (Greymouth) he was the only skip who did not require to play off. winning all seven games. F. A. Hughes (Greymouth) and C. Madsen (Opawa) each won six games, and in the play-off Hughes proved the victor to qualify 17-10. his lead, F. Chivers, playing brilliant bowls. J. Stokes (Cobden) and F. Stevens (Waimate) played off to decide the winner of Section B, after winning six games each, and Stokes gained the honours comfortably, 18-6. C. Dewar (Karoro) was the only skip to secure six wins in Section C to qualify. W. O’Neill (Runanga), with six wins, played off with his clubmate R. McDonald, to decide a qualifier in Section F, and O’Neill won. 19-15.
