Greymouth Jockey Club Acceptances for the racing events and withdrawals the trotting events on the first day close with the secretary, B o’clock to-night. Advt, At Blenheim Racket, with a change of rider, had a spectacular win in the main event at Blenheim yesterday, which attracted only three runners. She followed Roto Parera and Beneve into the straight, and, responding gamely, wore them down in fixe last 100 yards. A length margin covered the three contestants. Favourite Beaten ’ Royal Event was sent out at a short price for the Second Provincial Stakes at Blenheim, but was beaten by his stablemate, Fire Chase, a four-year-old filly by Wild Chase. The latter was in front throughout and won by a wide margin. A Trentham Winner Rothnic, winner of the Trial Stakes at Blenheim, is a fodr-year-old gelding by Foxlight, and is trained at Trentham by P Burgess. He and True Friend had a stem struggle over the final furlong, with Rothnic always holding an advantage. The Riccarton-trained Miss Elterwater finished on for a moderate third. Deep Harmony was again not produced because of the hard track. He will race at Greymouth on Saturday. High Order Wins Matapan and Appeasement raced together for most of the way in the Champion Hack Handicap at Blenheim. Matapan began to draw away from Appeasement commencing the final furlong, and appeared to be in for another comfortable win, but High Order, a stable-mate of Rothnic, got up in the last stride to beat her by a narrow margin. Appeasement, which ran his best race to date, was a close third. A Close Call Glen Urquhart, a grey gelding by Theio from Piuthair, outclassed the field in the concluding event at Blenheim. He had a break of six lengths a furlong from the post, but then rode away and attempted to pull up, but his rider got him going again to hold off Te Wanaka. Westland R.C. Afmont was omitted fram the published list of nominations for the Westland Racing Club’s meeting. Correct Weights The correct weight of Manatone and Loyal Event in the Trial Stakes at Greymouth on Saturday is 9-1, not 9-7.
