JEWISH ENTRY TO PALESTINE
REPORTED APPROACH TO ARABS
JERUSALEM, January 6. “The High Commissioner in Palestine (Lieutenant-GenePal Sir Alan Cunningham), it is reported from reliable Arab circles, has asked the Palestine Higher Arab Committee to agree to an interim quota of 1500 Jewish immigrants to Palestine monthly,” says Reuter’s correspondent in Jerusalem. “The request, it is reported, was made at the behest of the Colonial Secretary.
“General Cunningham said that the immigration of 1500 Jews a month would hold for four months, after which the British and American commission which is investigating the whole question officially, was bound to complete its task. “The Arab Higher Committee (representing the six main Arab parties in Palestine) has asked for time for consultations.”
