PACIFIC AIR SERVICE
Survey Flight By Skymaster
AMERICAN COMPANY’S PLANS
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, January 7. One of Pan American Airways large four-engined landplanes, which is making a survey flight of the new Pacific route, is expected to land at When.uapai towards the end of the week. The aircraft, which is believed to be a Skymaster capable of carrying 40 passengers, mail, and express freight at a cruising speed of 200 miles an hour, left San Francisco on Sunday. • Pan American Airways offibials in Auckland could not give any information about the flight, but it is believed the route taken will be Honolulu. Canton Island, Suva, and Noumea. A fair amount of time will be taken in surveying the route and in making arrangements for future fuelling, maintenance, and accommodation.
The survey is preparatory to the resumption of the regular service between San Francisco and Auckland which will start on February 1, according to a statement made to-night by Mr L. C. Reynolds, who controls the air line’s South Pacific division.
