♦ PRESIDENT'S ANNUAL REPORT Good attendances and a greater choice of work of a high standard resulted in sales reaching the highest total for-16 years, are mentioned by the president (Mr A. E. Flower) in his report which will be presented to the annual meeting of the Canterbury Society of Arts on December 11. Tho council had bought three pictures for its permanent collection:—"The NorthWest Wind" (oil), by Colin LovellSmith; "Sheep Sale" (water colour), by Juliet Peter, and "French Peasant" (etching), by Roberta Cameron Smith The picture lending library of framed reproductions and originals had increased its sphere of activities, and had received a number of Medici Prints from the Carnegie Corporation. Activities planned for next year include lectures by films and slides and opportunities for discussion.
