WAKE ISLAND BOMBED
COMMUNIQUE FROM NIMITZ
(Rec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 7. The following communique has been issued by Admiral Nimitz: “Our aird-aft shot down four enemy planes and damaged military installations near the China coast on August 4 “They^ bombed Wake Island yesterday, destroying or damaging small craft, buildings, and other installations. “Search privateers yesterday sank four small cargo ships in the Tsushima Straits. Privateers to-day sank a dooloot cargo ship off the south coast of Honshu.”

MORE ATTACKS ON JAPAN LIKELY
(Rec. 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON August 7. A Navy broadcast revealed that the United States 3rd Fleet is again off Japan, and “will soon loose more destruction to vital coastal installations. The broadcast added that the fleet had maintained a week-long silence because it was avoiding a threatening ty Admiral Halsey’s ships suffered damage in a typhoon on June 5, and to avoid a repetition of the trouble, the 3rd Fleet, moved to safe waters.
