“Continuing the systematic reduction of enemy cities, our bombers struck at Kagoshima and Miyakonojo, important rail, air and industrial centres in southern Kyushu, and set fire to factories, freight yards and residential areas,’’ says a communique issued by General iVlacArthur.
“Night patrol planes sank shipping In the Tsushima Strait. “Enemy planes harmlessly raided our Okinawa positions before dawn. Flak destroyed one plane. “Medium bombers destroyed a freighter in Fusan harbour, in southern Korea. One of our planes was losj to flak. Patrol bombers attacked landing trait off the south China coast, wrecked rolling stock and barges near Haiphong, and destroyed or damaged five schooners off the Malay coast. “Planes of the 7th Fleet attacked transport facilities and buildings in the vicinity of Kuching, in Borneo, damaging motor veil ides, a river-boat, and three luggers, “Fighters ot the Royal Australian Air Force strafed enemy and defence positions in the Batik Papan area. Bombers struck at the Macassar area and caused an explosion among oil tanks at Bankoewangi, in eastern Java.
