MARKETING OF POTATOES
MINISTER’S COMMENT ON OFFICER’S STATEMENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON. July 20. “My attention has been drawn to a Press Association message appearing in Wellington newspapers made by Mr A. H. Honeyfield, manager of the Auckland branch of the Internal Marketing Division, concerning the supply of potatoes,” said the Hon. B. Roberts, Minister of Marketing, to-day. ‘‘Mr Honey field’s statement was for the purpose of amplifyihg and clarifying steps which are being taken to remedy the potato shortage position, and he reports that it was in no wise published with the intention of reflecting upon the services which have already been given by members of the Grain* Seed, and Produce Merchants’ Federation. “The Government and the federation are working together to relieve the shortage and to lay plans of operation lor next year’s production of potatoes.”
