Saddlery Industry .—The saddlery industry should continue as essential, de cided the North Canterbury District Council of Primary Production, which at a meeting yesterday received a letter from the National Primary Production Council asking for its views on the proposal to abolish the classification. The position of supplies in North Canterbury was not satisfactory, it was stated, and there was an acute shortage of canvas and similar materials. „ _ “A Drink-Free Britain-" The National Prohibition Party of the British Isles is urging its members to write “A drink-free Britain” across their ballot papers in the General Election “Maybe you feel that you will thereby lose a vote, but is it not better to make a real protest than lose a vote by givinf it to a candidate who does not represent your views and whose party is subservient to vested interests?” says a statement issued by the party.—London, July 3.
