MERGER WITH CATCHMENT BOARD

The North Canterbury Catchment Board intends to absorb the Waimakariri River Trust, the Ashley River Trust, and the North Rakaia River Boardon April 1046 The Waimaka? riri Trust has agreed to this proposal and the other two bodies will be asked if they will come in at the same date. Mr W. Machin. chairman of the Catchment Board, informed the annual meeting yesterday that since these changes would take place by .consent he understood the legal formalities would present no complications. The board approved a resolution directing that machinery be put in motion to have this end achieved. Mr Machin expressed appreciation of the co-opera-tion shown by these authorities. It was decided to obtain the permission of the Soil Conservation and River Control Council to the chairmen of any bodies absorbed being co-opted to the board for 12 months.
