Sir,—The Motor Unions are asking for an increased , petrol ration as toe British motorist is how to get pejxoi for non-essential purposes. < Britain s food rations will probably hkve to he cut, and there is a.strong opinion that they should be, so, that food can be released fdr the Contmenfc The gesture-of the women’s organisations in sending tinned food to admirable, feut is the gesture not rattier naive? Luxury eating, wheat import ation, and the shops full of tinned goods as before. This geshire costs nothing except the price of the tin. The laissez-faire attitude towards further rationing here is most contemptible. It took the motor unions, only three days to state their claim tpr more petrol.
