DIRECTION WANTED
• Sir,—As I have read in your public notice that trespassers will be prosecuted on the Lake Sumner Station, North Canterbury, can you tell me if there is a public road to the accommodation huts which are situated up the Hurunui river and down the Teremakau to Aickens Station?— Yours, etc XMAS HIKER.
Ha warden, December 16, 1944. [When this letter was referred to the Physical Welfare Officer, Canterbury (Mr K. A. Muff), he said that the notice referred to fay the correspondent did not apply to individuals or groups who had received from the physical welfare branch of the Department of Internal Affairs the necessary authority to use the department’s recreation huts. “I would like to point out that this permission is not granted to any person who intends taking dogs or firearms into the district,” said Mr Muff.]
