* LANCASTER BOMBER COMING TO NEW ZEALAND LONDON, Oct. 27. “On a mission to study navigation and to demonstrate the latest equipment likely to be of use in the Pacific area, a Royal Air Force Lancaster from the Empire Central Navigation School of Flying Training Command is now on the first round-the-world flight,’’ states the Air Ministry, “The outward route will include Montreal. Washington, San Francisco, and Honolulu for training air. crews for the Far East, and each member of the crew will give specialist lectures during a series of visits to operational training stations in Australia and New Zealand and possibly New Guinea. “The Lancaster will tour New Zealand, after which it will proceed to Australia, and will return to Britain by way of Ceylon, Karachi, and Cairo. The longest hop will be that of 3000 miles from Australia to Ceylon. “The aircraft, which is a standard Lancaster with added fuel tanks, is captained by Wing Commander D. C. McKinley.”
