RETURN TO NEW ZEALAND
♦ SICK AND WOUNDED PERSONNEL
PARTY FROM MIDDLE EAST (P.A.) WELLINGTON. September 22. A hospital ship which arrived in New Zealand recently from the Middle East carried 360 sick and wounded New Zealand soldiers, a fair proportion being stretcher eases.
There were also a few naval personnel, some Waacs, and nursing sisters.
The returning personnel were welcomed by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) and the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones).
After medical examination those not seriously ill will be allowed to go home on leave.
