REPATRIATION FROM GERMANY
CAPTAIN A. I. COTTRELL Advice has been received in Christchurch that the former All Black footballer. Captain A. I. Cottrell, of Fendalton, who has been a prisoner of war since 1942. has been repatriated from Germany, and is now in Britain. Captain Cottrell was captured in Egypt during the fighting before the Battle of El Alamein. and was a prisoner of war in Italy, later being transferred to a orison camp in Germany. Before he went overseas Captain Cottrell took a leading part in Canterbury Rugby football, both as a player and an administrator. He renresented Canterbury 39 times, and was a New Zealand forward from 1929 to 1932. Later he was a member of the management committee of the Canterbury Rugbv Union. At its meeting last evening the management committee of the Rugby Union decided to send a congratulatory cablegrame to Captain Cottrell.
