MINOR FIRES

♦ The Christchurch Fire Brigade received a call to a rubbish fire in the basement of the Methodist Children’s Home, 93 Harewood road. Papanui. at 618 o’clock last evening Two engines were sent out, one from the central station and the other from the St. Albans station. No difficulty was experienced in extinguishing the fire, which did not cause any'damage. Two chimney fires were, also dealt with by the brigade yesterday. The first, at 9.36 o’clock yesterday morning. was in a house at 470 Hereford street. Linwood. occupied by Mrs Alice Cree. The second fire occurred at 1.56 o'clock yesterday afternoon in a house at 41 Ranfurly street. £lt. Albans. No [damage was done in egker case.
