HOCKEY
CLOSE OF SEASON The Canterbury hockey season was brought to a close on Saturday with the exception ol one third grade match between Sydenham and Selwyn. On Saturday a series of matches between teams representing the various grades was played at Hagley Park with the following results: — Second Grade 4, Third Grade 3. Fourth Grade 3. Fifth Grade 2. Secondary Schools 3, Under 17 Grade 0. Primary Schools 3. Technical Under 15 2. Women's Hockey The only women’s hockey played on Saturday was a trial match, after which the following team was selected, to represent Canterbury against Otago, at Dunedin next Saturday:—J. Fraser (West Christchurch), captain; P. Blackler (West Christchurch), M. Green (Carlton), J. MeKenzie (Hornby), C. Clark, Z. Aldridge. M. Dean (Carlton), A. Drake (Technical), D. Mouat (Aranul). Mary McKenzie, G. McKenzie (Hornby), N. Gourlay (University), and E. Byrne (Technical) The women’s hockey competitions are concluded, and the following are the points gained by the teams:— Senior A Grade —Hornby 13, Christchurch West 9, Carlton Si, Technical 7, University 6, Selwyn 51, Aranui 4, RapaSenior Reserve. —A Section; Rawhltl 11 J.
