Sir,—Could Mr Vine say why a registered owner of a car, wishing to attend the funeral of a blood relation, should be refused a gallon of petrol, while a-few months ago anyone wishing to attend the funeral of a late Minister of the Crown could obtain a gallon of petrol simply by applying for it?— Yours, etc., _ VERY CURIOUS. [An official of the Chief Post Qffice said yesterday that the usual practice was to allow one gallon of petrol to the nearest relative on the day of the funeral. The issue of petrol for the funeral of a late Minister of the_ Crown was a special issue made by direction of the Government.]
