RUGBY COACHING FILM RECOVERED
Sir,—ln the local column of your issue on Wednesday, May 31, 1944, you reported a discussion under heading “Rugby Coaching Film Recovered” at a meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Union. First of all, the reference by the Canterbury Rugby Union should not have been to Toe H, which is not a boys’ club, but to the Crichton Cobbers’ Club, a boys’ club run under the auspices of Toe H with Mr Jack Bruorton as the director. On communicating with Mr Bruorton I was informed that the film in question had been deposited with the club by one of the Rugby Union Club officials for safe custody; and evidently the union had forgotten where it had placed the film. The instructors at that time of the Crichton Cobbers’ Club are now mostly serving overseas and the film was not noticed until one of the Crichton Cobbers’ Club lads discovered it in a cupboard and drew Mr Bruorton’s attention to it. Finally, the Crichton Cobbers’ Club had not asked for a reward or a donation.—Yours, etc., A. S. GEDDES, Chairman of Toe H, Canterbury and Westland Region. May 31, 1944. *
