SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS
(P.A.) DUNEDIN, Jan. 10. The South Island croquet tournament was continued to-day In boisterous weather. The lawns were heavy after rain and a strong wind caused difficulties for the players. Results were:—
Women’s Championship.—Mrs PetUgrew (Gore) 26, Mrs Middleton (Christchurch) 16; Mrs Millin (Punga) 26, Mrs Whitfield (Christchurch) 15; Mrs Chambers (Christchurch) 26. Miss Bell (Christchurch) 10; Mrs Grant (Christchurch! 26. Mrs Lattimer (Gore) 9; Mrs Moodie (Punga) 26. Mrs Pepper (Christchurch) 15; Mrs Pettigrew (Gore) 26, Mrs Chambers (Christchurch) 22; Mrs Stockdale (Christchurch) 26, Mrs Kellaway (Christchurch) 14; Mrs Forrester (Leith) 26, Mrs Newall (St Clair) 8. Open Championship.—Colonel Beamish (Christchurch) beat Mrs O'Neill (Gore), 26-18, 26-19.
