LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS

POSTPONEMENT UNTIL 1945 URGED (P.A.) DUNEDIN, October 31. The Otago Harbour Board, when considering the estimates for 1943-41 considered an item of £IOOO for the local body election next May, Members considered that such expense multiplied many times throughout the Dominion, was not warranted, especially when deferment might enable returned servicemen to offer their services.

The board decided to represent to the Government that the local body elections should be postponed until 1945.
