POLICEMEN INJURED IN SYDNEY BRAWL
ANGRY MOB OUTSIDE POLICE STATION (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) , SYDNEY, Oct. 31. i In Sydney’s most violent brawl for years, 12 policemen were injured and 15 men were arrested at Manly last night. The police, reinforced by members of the Provost Corps, were compelled to use their batons, and it was an hour before the disturbances Were suppressed. While thousands looked ton, an angry, shouting mob followed the police to the doors of the Manly 1 police station. The disturbance began when the 1 police were called to remove three * soldiers from the bridge of the Manly [ ferry. The soldiers were alleged to - have taken charge’ of the wheelhouse 1 and the navigating bridge, defying the captain and cfew. Those arrested In- ! eluded four soldiers, four Air Force ■ men, and two sailors. One poheeman ! had a finger almost bitten off. An--1 other was knocked unconscious. J BRITISH CUTLERY
