EXTRA PETROL FOR HOLIDAYS
(DECEMBER* JANUARY ISSUE ■. i , 1 COUPONS AT FULL VALUE (PA.) WELLINGTON, October 29. The Minister of Supply (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) said this afternoon that petrol coupons Nos. 6 and 7 at their full face value would be available at any time during December and January. An extra allowance of petrol would be available to taxis for the holiday period. Mr Sullivan said the November ration would continue at the halfcoupon rate, and the No. 5 coupon would be available at half its face value. Coupons 6 and 7 had been made available at'full value during the whole of .December and January to enable the motoring public to draw the full two months’ ration at the most convenient time for holiday vacations. He announced that members of furlough parties from overseas would in future receive 10 gallons a month for a maximum of three • months. Those invalided back and discharged, or service' personnel returned for duty in New Zealand would receive one licence ? for up‘ to 20 gallons, and service personnel on final leave would receive 10 gallons. . , • , The War Cabinet, he said, had always been appreciative of the way motorists had accepted the somewhat drastic restriction on petrol, but the ration had to be reviewed month by month in the light of available supplies. Although -the present'' stock position was a little more satisfactory than for some time, the future supply position was still not so clear-cut or as hopeful as was popularly believed, judging by recent press reports. PETROL FOR LAUNCHES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 29. The Minister of Supply, (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) announced to-night that it had been - decided by the War Cabinet that the petrol allocation for launches and other pleasure craft during the coming-boating season, November to April inclusive, would be as follows: Motor-boats (according to waterline); up to 29 feet, four gallons a month; over 25 and not exceeding 30 feet, eight gallons; over 30 and not exceeding 35 feet, 12 gallons: over 35, and not exceeding 40 feet, 16; over 40, 20 gallons. ... Sailing yachts with auxiliary engines mid boats using outboard motors: four gallons a month.
