FAMINE IN BENGAL
Sir, —“L.L.8.” is unmoved at the death by starvation of thousands of poor creatures, yet he gets hysterica] at justified criticism of'the British Government. and is quite determined to foist the blame on to the local Indian Government, controlled directly or indirectly by British capital, after all. He lashes out furiously at all things New Zealand, and censures us for “biting the hand that feeds and fights for us.” We did think that we fed and fought for ourselves, yea, and for Britain, too. Consider our heavy commitments In the Middle East, definitely not in our theatre of war. He sneers at our early settlers—so different from the imported clique thal has come lately, who worm their way into good positions, who talk of the wonders of “Home”; who never return there. “L.L.8." knows that injustice is being done, yet he hides his face and will not see.— Yours, etc..
