NURSES’ UNION
Sir,—This question is in‘danger of being side-tracked - by both the Rev. O. W. Williams, and “Pro Bono Publico.” Your, first correspondent, ‘‘Association,” had the idea that the Trained • Nurses’ Association could do all that was required to obtain reasonable conditions of labour, and I replied to say this was not possible. . I again stress this and point out that the trainees who require the greatest assistance are not eligible for membership; and it cannot be expected of the association to bother;about those outside its ranks. The Rev. O.’W. Williams brings cold comfbrt to the problem by. giving a homily on Nazism and Communism; in fact, a stone where bread is deserved. He is wise to refrain from further argument. I again suggest that the example set by the hospital boards by registering a New Zealand Hospital Hoards’ Industrial Union of. Employers could well be emulated by the nurses. —Yours, etc., ', T. NUTTALL. September 12,1943.
