SECOND-HAND TYRES
Sir,—Could you inform me about the procedure adopted by garages in sup* plying second-hand tyres and tubes to motorists, in conformity with the regulations? Are they, as the supplying agents, compelled to hand in the tyres and tubes they are replacing, which, of course, might be still quite serviceable as spares, and what becomes of these tyres and tubes when they are handed in?— Yours, etc., MOTORIST. , September 9,1943. ‘ [Ah officer of the District Tyre Controller’s office said yesterday that permits to obtain new tyres and tubes were not issued unless the reseller certified that the present tyres and tubes were unfit for further use. The resellers were required, to take possession of discarded tyres and tubes, and these eventually were added to stocks of old rubber for reclamation.]
