New Archbishop of Brisbane.— The Bishop of Riverina (the Rt. Rev. R. G. Halse) has been appointed Archbishoo of Brisbane in succession to Dr. T. W. Wand, who is now Bishop of Bath and Wells in England. Archbishop Halse, who is 62, has been Bishop of Riverina since 1925.—Brisbane, August 8. Righting of Normandie.— The righting of the French liner Normandie started to-day and is progressing according to schedule. A United States [Navy spokesman said that 356 portJioles had been closed. 5447 square feet i of deck openings patched, 6000 tons Of I debris 5000 tons of superstructure, 80001b of glass, and 10.000 cubic yards of mud had been removed. The spokesman added that at present water was being pumped out to right the ship slowly over a period of many days.— New York, August 7. -k
