MISSING MAN FOUND
ASSISTANCE GIVEN BY HOME GUARD An elderly man, Mr W. J. Mills, who has been missing from the Burwooo Hospital since Thursday, was found yesterday in an exhausted conditional a plantation near Rothesay road. The police had conducted a search without success, and Constable H. Irwin appealed to Major Buckeridge, of the West Battalion, Home Guard, for assistance. No fewer than 250 men volunteered, and they spent yesterday combing the big plantations and scrub in search of the missing man. Late in the afternoon the search was rewarded when Constable Irwin and Lieutenant P. Sherlock found the man about five miles away from the hospital. / The Home Guard volunteers showed a commendable spirit in giving up their day of leisure to assist in the search, and it is possible that without their assistance tiie man would not have been found.
