HOME GUARD CASUALTIES

Sir,—Your article on the above subject is to be commended, but. it does not bo far enough. Even in Parliament it has been admitted that the physical resistance of many is at breaking point. One of the recent victims was 69 years of age. A recent complaint to ine Press” by an elderly Guardsman received a very curt reply from the authorities. As long as elderly and unfit men have to choose between attendance and prosecution, the casualties will continue. However, apart altogether from humanitarian grounds, it will not help the war effort if men of little use militarily are to be lost to industry.—Yours, etc., „ EXPERIENCE. April 3, 1943.
