Sir,—There seems to be a good deal of discontent with the methods'of selection adopted by the Canterbury Society of Arts. I do not know what the merits of the discussion may be, but I would suggest that a greater number of pictures might have been hung in the present exhibition. A third row-of pictures could have been placed with- advantage in the main gallery. It is difficult to believe that the large number of pictures unhung were poorer than some of those on the walls.
