SUMNER TRAMS

Sir,—As one who has travelled in all parts of the world and is now a daily passenger in the Sumner trams, I desire publicly to extend congratulations to the Christchurch Tramway Board on the excellent service it now provides its Sumner patrons. The initiative and enterprise displayed by the board is truly amazing. Monopolies usually have a tendency towards abuse. Not so with the Tramway Board. The monopoly it possesses has had the opposite effect, and it is inspired to make the service it operates so appetising to its patrons that those like myself, who have laid aside our cars for the duration, will be strongly tempted to carry on indefinitely as regular patrons of the trams. —Yours, etc SPEED AND COMFORT. February 25,1943.
