SOLDIER WELCOMED HOME Maoris of Rapaki and many visiting Maoris gathered in the Rapaki Hall on Saturday night to welcome back to the village Lieutenant A. Barrett, who served with the Maori Battalion in the Middle East. An address of welcome was given by Mr Jack Tikao and the Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr F. E. Sutton) extended a welcome for the citizens cf Lyttelton. -Lieutenant Barrett gave an interesting account of some of the exploits of the battalion. Musical items and Maori dances were given by some of the children of Rapaki.
