HOSPITAL BEQUEST

REASON FOR AUSTRALIAN’S • GIFT Softie lime ago the North Canterbury Hospital Board was advised that it had benefited by £250 under the will of Mr T. E. Crisp, of Melbourne. Members were mystified as to why the bequest had been made. The reason was given at the recent meeting of the board when members were informed by the testator's widow' that when Mr Crisp was a young man in 1890 he was seeking his fortune in New Zealand and became seriously ill in Christchurch, He was admitted to the hospital, but, being in poor circumstances, he was then unable to recompense the board for the nursing and attention he had received. “My husband always felt that he should show his appreciation of the kindness he received,” his widow wrote. “Hence, the legacy under his will.”
