FALLING SCHOOL POPULATION
Sir,— During the Education Board’s discussion on falling school population, a member said; “Strangely and significantly. the average attendance was also exceedingly low, being 85a per cent., the lowest for 30 years. Surely members know that since and including 1941 average attendance has been reckoned on all attendances and no excepted half-days have been considered. My register shows that for the winter term of 1942, six out of 13 weeks had attendances which formerly would have been excepted, this low attendance being due to stormy weather and influenza—You^^W., February 23, 1943.
